Greater Bristol Transport Plan

Welcome to the Joint Local Transport Plan

Bath and North East Somerset Council, Bristol City Council, North Somerset Council and South Gloucestershire Council are joining forces to plan for the future of transport in the area.

The four Authorities are developing a Local Transport Plan for the period 2006 – 2011 to meet the area’s transport needs, increase transport choice and improve access to jobs, education and services for all.

The launch of this web site is the first step in the development of the Joint Local Transport Plan. It explains why we are working together; what the key transport issues facing the area are; what our priorities for transport in the area are; what has been achieved so far, and; what we aim to achieve for the future. The involvement of residents, businesses and other stakeholders in this process will be key to its success, helping us to create an ambitious but also achievable Plan.

This site will be updated as the development of the Joint Local Transport Plan progresses, and information about consultation events will be posted here as they are programmed over the coming months. It is anticipated that a consultation draft of the Plan will be available in spring 2005.

New!! The first stage of Joint Local Transport Plan Consultation has begun!

A consultation document has been produced outlining the proposed contents of the LTP, it outlines some of the transport problems in the area and examines how these issues may be tackled. Download the consultation document [PDF: 1.28 Mb / 19 pages] to find out more and how to get involved for details of events in the area!

The main aim of this document is to ask you your opinion of our aspirations for the next 5 years and to help us do this we would like to ask you to fill in a questionnaire for us.

This can be done online or request a hard copy of the leaflet by E-mailing, telephoning or writing to us, complete the form and return by Freepost (please go to contact us section).
